Company Profile

For nearly 23 years, NCM Direct Delivery, Inc. has provided Leading Solutions to meet the delivery, logistics, and transportation needs of California businesses.

Founded in 1986, as an alternative to "business as usual" delivery company, NCM has grown into one of the largest and most successful transportation solutions company in the state. Today, more than ever, new technologies and processes are shaping the way virtually every industry does business.

Technology has become necessary in the transportation industry now more than ever. From, GPS and Managed Dispatch, to scanning and tracking, NCM has embraced and invested in the technology needed to deliver everything from tissue samples to paychecks, from film to medicine, and all at the Speed of Business in California.

This Courier Management System approach has enabled NCM to develop a statewide network of routes and on-demand services in order to partner with other successful companies to deliver not just packages but also for our partner’s bottom line.

Operations Technology

NCM has consistently invested in technology to support our operations team. We have kept current with new developments and available tools to improve our service and customer service capabilities.

NCM uses the e-Courier Courier Management System (CMS). This provides our company with a seamless merge of information from our client’s first phone call to each of the couriers’ deliveries. NCM couriers utilize Nextel direct connect two-way radios to provide a real time link between themselves, NCM dispatch, and our CMS.

NCM Office

The Nextel system allows the courier and our operations team to exchange detailed information about current deliveries, traffic conditions, and customer requests live. While cellular phones and beepers can be effective, each have range and time restrictions not found with the two way radios.

Further, the CMS utilizes state of the art technology to determine the approximate position of each NCM courier. This allows NCM dispatchers to see the location of each courier on a computer generated map. No more guess work. This tool adds to our ability when you need it most.

The CMS also offers our clients access to delivery information, as it clears our dispatch system. This software, for example, provides our clients the ability to receive automatic P.O.D.'s as each delivery is accomplished, sent via email. NCM can also direct all delivery information to a file for retrieval by your customer service department. File retrieval and direct access to our system including the ability to place your own orders is available at www.ncmdirect.com.

For our daily route structure, NCM has invested in barcode and scanning technology, which allows us to produce individual route sheets for each courier. All inquiries and adjustments to the delivery in progress are being funneled through this management system. The results from this investment are quickly evident. Delivery issues are solved faster than ever before.

Employee Support and Training

NCM is proud that we offer our couriers the most comprehensive compensation package in the courier industry. Each of our employees has full medical and dental coverage, profit sharing and 401K Plan, and a variety of bonus and incentive plans rewarding outstanding performance.

While we think our training program has been thorough, it has certainly changed over the past several years. As issues are raised we include them in our training schedule. We now meet with couriers on an individual basis once a week or more. Regular sessions are held with our pharmaceutical couriers weekly to review procedure. This repetition is the reason we are able to see continuing progress.

Our drivers are Independent Contractors. Because of this status, they are not employed by NCM and are therefore not eligible for Medical, Dental, Profit Sharing and the 401K Plan. These benefits are only offered to our office/administrative/management personnel as they are considered official employees of NCM and/or/ California Courier.

Service Commitment

Our job is to provide you with real answers. NCM has the technology and the personal commitment of our entire staff to draw from. Our open door policy for all of our employees is consistently improved upon.  We participate in many programs to assist our people in the often-difficult day to day issues that face them. Uniform Policy

All of our couriers wear a full uniform and photo I.D. Shirts, jacket and cap are provided to each, and we are aggressive in encouraging our couriers to be in uniform every day. Your customers want to know who our courier is, and the purpose for their presence.

We respond to issues concerning performance, appearance and professionalism as you would with your own employee. NCM is part of your delivery team and we act accordingly.

Recovery Plans

NCM operates in an ongoing "what if" state of mind. While most days seem uneventful, we never know when and where an obstacle will be placed in our path. Traffic patterns change, accidents occur, and in northern California weather can be a major factor much of the year.

If only there was proper notice for these events, life would be simpler but there is none. We staff our business to be prepared to act and change plans. We are and have been successful in dealing with all of the above. The key is to have everyone involved notified, be apart of the decision, and work together with accurate information.

During the 1989 earthquake NCM remained fully operational. To facilitate the needs of our medical customers, we placed individual courier's at all major hospitals. With the Bay Bridge inoperable, we chartered two vessels and had them operating around the clock between Oakland and San Francisco.

NCM is proud of the days when the sky is not blue, and the roads aren’t dry, it is in these days that we feel our systems make us the best.

Reporting Systems

NCM has developed a database and information system that provides significant detail on our daily delivery performance. Each day we input pertinent information for every delivery, recording the time for each stop, who signed for the delivery, number of items, and more. Reports are generated monthly and are an active part of our management system.

We are confident in our efforts. We realize that our clients, employees and couriers are the reason we enjoy any measure of success. We are extremely proud of the close long term relationships we have with many of our business partners.
